Academics

We offer options for any English level. Beginners may take our ELL courses (for grades 6-12) to prepare for other coursework in English. Academic courses, including our certificate and Dual Diploma programs, require a B1 CEFR level to participate.

In addition to courses at your local high school that are transferred to Columbia School, you must complete 5 credits (10 semester length courses) with Columbia School. Required subjects include Social Studies, English Literature, Science, and Math. In addition, students may take one additional credit from a choice of electives. See the Dual Diploma catalog for more information. Your school may have specific course selections, so please check with your school’s Dual Diploma coordinator.

We have partnerships with over 15 universities who are eager to take our students. These universities understand that our students are very prepared. Our graduates have a high level of English proficiency, the ability to study in a U.S. classroom, and the work-ethic to succeed. For this reason, Hudson Global Scholars and Columbia School will refund our program fee if a student is not accepted to at least one of our partner universities.

Yes! The experience of studying academic subjects in English will help students succeed in any university setting, whether in the U.S. or another English-speaking country or university program. Our university admissions advisors can help students identify the best program for their future. Furthermore, our students also gain the English skills needed for careers in the U.S. or anywhere in the world.
